DALLAS – Ryan Parncutt of the Old Dominion women's soccer team earned the 2021 Fall Spirit of Service Award, announced by Conference USA on Monday.

The Spirit of Service Award recognizes student athletes with outstanding community service involvement, exceptional academics and contributions to their sport. This award is given out three times a year, this time recognizing football, volleyball, and women's soccer.

Parncutt is a defender for the ODU women's soccer team which had a historical season this year. The team won the Conference USA regular season and tournament titles, both for the first time in school history, while earning a berth into the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history. Parncutt appeared in 17 matches this season and made nine starts, recording five shots and one assist against William & Mary.

A sophomore, Parncutt holds a 3.6 GPA and is pursuing a degree in career & technical education with a concentration in marketing education.

Parncutt serves on the ODU executive committee for SAAC and is the lead for the Community Engagement Committee for Athletics. She has recorded 43 hours of community service activities this semester while taking the lead on various community projects including Monarch Sisters, which is a volunteer service and mentor program that the ODU women's soccer team started in 2018 to work with young girls in the Norfolk community. Other contributions Parncutt has made include programs with the Mercy Chefs and local downtown homeless shelters. On campus, she has helped to generate donations for toy drives, dental care kits and letters for pen pal programs for local youth. Outside of ODU, Parncutt volunteers at the Norfolk Therapeutic Recreation Center working with intellectually disabled adults.
