BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Old Dominion women's soccer team remains in Boca Raton, Florida to play in the finals of the Conference USA Tournament hosted by FAU. This is ODU's first ever Conference USA Tournament Championship match. ODU will play Southern Miss. on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. ET. This match will be available to stream through ESPN+.
ODU (12-4-1, 6-1-1 C-USA) is coming off a 2-1 comeback victory over Middle Tennessee in the semifinals on Friday afternoon. Ece Turkoglu scored the equalizer in the 28th minute to keep ODU in the game, while Yuliia Khrystiuk scored the game winner in the 56th minute. Carla Morich led the Monarchs on the attack with six shots. Turkoglu, Khrystiuk, and Morgan Hall each recorded three shots as well.
The Monarchs won the C-USA regular season championship with a 6-1-1 record, only allowing one goal in league play. Emily Roberts received the final C-USA Defensive player of the Week as well as Conference Defensive Player of the Year and First Team Honors. Kasey Perry also received Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team Honors. Turkoglu joined Roberts and Perry receiving First Team Honors.
Gry Boe Thrysøe and Morich received Third Team Honors. Thrysøe was also named to the All-Freshman Team. Head coach Angie Hind was recognized for her work this season and received the Coach of the Year.
Southern Miss. (10-3-3, 4-1-3 C-USA) is also coming off of a 2-1 comeback win over UAB in the semifinal match, played on Friday night. Madisyn Flammia scored the equalizer in the 54th minute and Ariel Diaz secured the win in the 86th minute of the match. The Golden Eagles were led on the attack by Blessing Kingsley, Alice Campos, and Ryan Smith with three shots each.
