RICHMOND, Va. – The Old Dominion women's basketball team begins a stretch of five games away from home on Sunday, when it plays VCU at 1 p.m. Sunday's game streams live on ESPN+ and can be heard live on Money Talk 1310 AM, 100.9 FM and 97.3 HD2 with Ted Alexander and Susan Montgomery on the call.

The Starting Five
Old Dominion enters Sunday with 1,099 wins and is looking to become just the eighth Division I program to win 1,100 games.

ODU and VCU are meeting for the 79th time. No team has played ODU more often than VCU. Additionally, the Monarchs are 60-18 all-time against the Rams.

No other Division I program has been as successful against the Commonwealth as Old Dominion. The Monarchs are 382-107 (.781) all-time against opponents from inside the state. Head Coach DeLisha Milton-Jones is 2-0 against the Commonwealth as the head coach of ODU with both wins coming last season.

Ajah Wayne enters Sunday 16 points shy of 1,000 for her career. She is set to become the 34th Monarch to score 1,000 points. ODU boasts 15 1,500-point scorers and six 2,000-point scorers.

The Monarchs suffered their first setback of the season on Thursday, a 47-45 home loss to George Washington. ODU utilized a 16-6 run in the fourth quarter to take a 45-44 lead with 2:11 remaining, but GW's Sheslanie Laureano sank a 3-pointer with 6.4 seconds to go.

Scouting VCU
The reigning Atlantic 10 champions, VCU enters Sunday with a 1-1 overall record. The Rams shot below 30% from the field in a 54-46 opening-night loss to Middle Tennessee but bounced back with a 66-37 win over North Carolina Central on Wednesday.

Four players scored in double figures against the Eagles, led by Janika Griffith-Wallace's 16. Chloe Bloom posted a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double, and Preseason A-10 First Teamer Taya Robinson hit a trio of 3-pointers as part of a 12-point effort.

Through two games, the Rams are holding opponents to 45.5 points per game (2nd in the A-10) and rank first in the conference in field goal percentage defense (.250), defensive rebounds per game (34.5) and fewest turnovers (33).

VCU was picked to finish tied for fourth in the Preseason A-10 Poll and received one first-place vote. Last season, the Rams went 16-11 overall and hit their stride late. Just like the Monarchs, VCU won seven of its last nine games, upset top-seeded Dayton in the A-10 semifinals en route to a tournament championship and reached the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history.

The Series
ODU and VCU are meeting for the 79th time on Sunday, making the Rams the Monarchs' most-familiar opponent. The former CAA rivals have met at least once a season since 1984-85 and have played in 48 of ODU's 53 seasons of competition (Sunday included).

The Monarchs won 81-76 in overtime last season, outscoring the Rams 13-8 in the extra period. Amari Young posted a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double and added four steals as well. Mariah Adams scored eight points and dished out five assists.

What's Next
The Monarchs fly to Katy, Texas for the Van Chancellor Classic Nov. 26-28. At the Classic, ODU plays Saint Joseph's (Nov. 26, noon), Texas Tech (Nov. 27, 2:30 p.m.) and Stetson (Nov. 28, noon). Following that, the Monarchs play at William & Mary on Sunday, Dec. 5 before finally returning home to host Bowie State on Wednesday, Dec. 8.
