DALLAS – Anna Burkhardt and Hailey Duncan of the Old Dominion volleyball team were named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. The Monarchs were one of two programs (WKU) to have multiple honorees on the team.
Burkhardt is a biochemistry/biomedical engineering major and holds a 3.9 grade-point average. She appeared in 24 total matches for the Monarchs and was second on the team in digs per set (2.76) and total digs (232). The native of Fort Wayne, Indiana had 14 matches with double-digit digs this season, including a career-high 17 against UAB on Oct. 2. Burkhardt transitioned to the team's libero late in the season, serving in that role in each of ODU's last three matches.
Duncan owns a pristine 4.0 GPA and is a psychology and nursing double major. She currently ranks seventh in the conference in blocks per set (1.06) and hitting percentage (.323). Duncan reached double digits in kills 11 times this season and hit .500 or better on five occasions. Additionally, the native of Chesapeake, Virginia notched at least five blocks in eight matches, including seven with at least seven.
