IRVING, Texas – Old Dominion University senior kicker Nick Rice was named the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week, C-USA announced on Monday.
Rice kicked the game-winning 46-yard field goal as time expired to give ODU a 23-20 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday.
A native of St. Petersburg, Florida, Rice also kicked field goals of 36 and 29 yards, the 29-yarder tied the game at 20 with 1:52 remaining. Just minutes later Rice kicked the game-winner.
For the season, Rice is 13-of-15 on field goals with a long of 47 and 20-of-21 on extra points. He is the ODU all-time leader in field goals with 57 and is 105-of-107 in extra points.
Earlier today, Rice was one of four kickers named a Lou Groza "Star of the Week." Rice received the honor along with Harrison Mevis (Missouri), Jake Moody (Michigan) and Noah Ruggles (Ohio State).
