NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's soccer team returns to conference play as it travels to Bowling Green, Kentucky to play WKU Friday, October 8 at 7 p.m. The match will be streamed on HSSN on Facebook.
Old Dominion and Western Kentucky are tied for first in C-USA standings with perfect conference records of 4-0, only being separated by their overall records.
ODU (8-3-0, 4-0-0 C-USA) had its six-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon after falling 1-0 to ECU. The winning streak was ODU's longest since the Monarchs won eight-consecutive games in 2006. This was ODU's first loss since September 2. The Monarchs were led on offense by Ece Turkoglu, Emily Garrick, and Riley Kennett with two shots each. Old Dominion has several players ranked in Conference USA including Carla Morich who is ranked fifth in points (12), 10th in shots (29) and tied for seventh in goals (4). Megan Watts shares the tie for seventh with Morich for goals (4) and is also ranked seventh in shots (31).
WKU (9-1-0, 4-0-0 C-USA) is coming off of a 2-0 win over the reigning C-USA Champions Rice on Saturday night. Alexis Bach received the C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week for her performance against Rice where she played all 90 minutes for the Toppers while recording three saves and her fifth clean sheet of the season. Bach's fifth clean sheet earned her the second-place ranking in C-USA standings. Against Rice, WKU offense was led by Katie Erwin and Avery Jacobsen, both who are tied for ninth in C-USA standings for points (10).
