IRVING, TEXAS - Captain Emily Roberts (Severn, Md.) of the Old Dominion women's soccer team was named to the Conference USA All-Academic First team, while teammate Megan Watts (Stafford, Va.) was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Second Team, league officials announced on Friday.
A senior, Roberts has started all 15 matches for ODU this season, playing an astounding 1,375 minutes this season. Roberts has been a defensive asset helping ODU allow only one goal during conference play with seven shutouts. Roberts has recorded one goal, two assists, and seven shots on the year. The Maryland native currently has a 3.77 GPA as she majors in physical education with a minor in psychology. Roberts earned Conference USA All-Academic Second Team in the 2020 season as well as previously being named to Conference USA Honor Roll.
A junior, Watts has started 14 out of 15 matches for ODU this season. Watts has recorded one assist, four goals, and 37 shots this season. The forward from Virginia currently has a 3.80 GPA and is majoring in management. Watts has previously earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Medal and has been named to Conference USA Honor Roll for her academic success.
The Monarchs turn their attention next to the 2021 Conference USA Women's Soccer Championship in Boca Raton, Florida. ODU will play in the quarterfinals on Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. ET. against either UTSA or North Texas.
