Volleyball Faces Road Test at No. 18 WKU

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion volleyball team takes to the road for a pair of matches with No. 18-ranked WKU this Thursday and Friday. Both matches start at 7 p.m. and are streaming live on CUSA.tv and the Hilltopper Sports Satellite Network.
 
About ODU
The Monarchs dropped a pair of C-USA matches to FIU last Friday and Saturday. The two sides contested a five-set back-and-forth affair on Friday before the Panthers claimed a three-set victory on Saturday.
 
Alessia Sgherza tallied 18 kills on Friday and leads ODU this season in kills per set (2.77). Hailey Duncan chipped in 11 kills and eight total blocks (two solo, six assists) as well. For the season, Duncan is seventh in the conference with 1.06 blocks per set and ranks fifth with a .353 hitting percentage.
 
On Saturday, Myah Conway led the Monarchs with 12 kills and posted a season-high .429 hitting percentage.
 
About WKU
The Hilltoppers picked up a pair of wins at Florida Atlantic last weekend, running their NCAA-best conference win streak to 41. WKU swept FAU on Friday before winning in four sets on Saturday. Before dropping the second set on Saturday, the Hilltoppers had won 37-consecutive sets.
 
For the season, WKU ranks second nationally in hitting percentage (.337) while holding opponents to a .123 attack percentage, the third-best mark in the nation. Additionally, the Toppers lead C-USA in aces per set (1.78) and blocks per set (2.72) and rank second in the conference with 12.61 assists per set.
 
Lauren Matthews leads WKU with 292 total kills (4.36 per set) on a .480 attack percentage and 1.36 blocks per set. Nadia Dieudonne averages 10.96 assists per set, and Paige Briggs leads the team with 2.64 digs per set.

WKU took both matches at the ODU Volleyball Center last season.

The Monarchs conclude the regular season with home matches against Middle Tennessee on Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 6.
