No. 16 ODU Travels to No. 8 Liberty on Friday for Regular Season Finale

NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 16 Old Dominion field hockey team will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia for a Friday, October 29 match against No. 8 Liberty at 3:00 p.m., which will stream on ESPN+. Friday will mark the regular season finale for both teams
 
The Monarchs (13-3, 5-1 BIG EAST) have won four games in a row, in addition to nine of their last 10 matches. Old Dominion's .812-win percentage this season is the sixth best in the NCAA. Earlier this week, Delphine Le Jeune was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. The Monarchs are 5-2 in their seven road games this season. ODU's 1.94 assists per contest ranks 28th in the country.
 
The last time ODU and Liberty played was last season in the BIG EAST semifinals in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, where the Monarchs defeated the Lady Flames by a 2-1 score.
 
In the latest NCAA RPI released earlier this week, ODU is No. 15 and Liberty is No. 8.
 
Liberty (14-2, 6-0 BIG EAST) enters Friday's match riding an 11-game win streak, as the Lady Flames last loss occurred on September 12 at No. 6 Louisville. LU has defeated five nationally ranked teams this season: No. 9 North Carolina, No. 15 UConn, No. 20 Duke, No. 22 Kent State and No. 25 Stanford.
 
The Lady Flames are ranked No. 1 in the NCAA for assists per game (3.56), goals per game (4.12), points per game (11.81) and scoring average (4.12). Daniella Rhodes is third in the country and first in the BIG EAST for goals per game (1.15) and points per game (2.77).
 
Both Old Dominion and Liberty have secured one of four spots in the 2021 BIG EAST Tournament, which will take place on November 5 (semifinals) and November 7 (final) in Storrs, Connecticut.
