LYNCHBURG, Va. – Luca Maldoner, Yevhen Sirous and Nicola Vidal of the Old Dominion men's tennis team each went undefeated in singles at the ITA Atlantic Regional this weekend, which was held at the Liberty Tennis Complex. Maldoner, Sirous and Vidal punched their tickets to the ITA Atlantic Super Regional, held at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on October 23-25.

ODU's Younes Lalami and Francois Le Tallec have already secured singles spots in the ITA Atlantic Super Regional via direct entries, while Maldoner/Vidal and Lalami/Oliver Nolan have already clinched wildcard spots for doubles.

Maldoner, Sirous and Vidal each went 2-0 in singles over the past two days, as Sirous and Vidal won their matches in straight sets.

"I'm very proud with how we competed this weekend," said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. "We had several comeback wins and never gave up. We dug in when it got tough and that's we wanted to see. Having three players qualify for super regionals combined with our two wildcards make us strongly represented next weekend in a 32 player draw."

Joining the Monarchs this weekend were members from Liberty, Virginia Tech, William & Mary, James Madison, Longwood and Radford.

"We are very excited to host the first ever ITA Atlantic Super Regional at Old Dominion next weekend," said Mueller. "Leading up to hosting the C-USA Championships in the spring, we can demonstrate our great hospitality and showcase the amazing facilities we have here at ODU. Welcoming the best 32 singles players and best 16 doubles teams in our region is special and I'm beyond excited that our guys will have the opportunity to qualify for Fall Nationals on our own courts."

Student-athletes from NCAA Division I compete across ITA Regional Championships around the country. Regional doubles champions and regional singles champions, as well as finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
