NORFOLK, Va. - Senior Riley Kennett (Toms River, N.J.) of the Old Dominion women's soccer team was named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week, while teammate Kasey Perry (Dayton, Ohio) garnered her second C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week honor of the season, league officials announced on Tuesday.
Kennett scored the lone goal for ODU in Friday night's match against WKU. Her goal secured for Old Dominion the top seat in the East Division of Conference USA. Kennett played all 90 minutes and had two shots while only allowing WKU to take four shots. The senior defender not only protected ODU's perfect C-USA record but also ODU's unbeaten record against the Hilltoppers at 6-0-1.
Perry receives her second Player of the Week award, her previous being on September 28 after beating UAB 1-0. The senior goalkeeper earned Goalkeeper of the Week after a stellar performance against WKU. Kasey recorded one save on four shots faced as well as achieved her fifth shutout of the season, surpassing her previous record of four clean sheets in 2020.
Kasey is ranked in Conference USA in several different categories including second for goals against average (.584), tied for second for shutouts (5), second for shut outs per game (.556), and ninth in save percentage (.75).
Kennett and Perry helped make program history by winning five straight conference matches as well as earning a No. 49 RPI.
ODU will return to play against Charlotte in its sixth Conference USA match. The Monarchs in the ODU Soccer Complex in Norfolk, Virginia on Friday, Oct 15 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
