NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's soccer team extended its winning streak to six after beating Marshall 4-0 on Friday night at the ODU Soccer Complex.

Head coach Angie Hind said, "We feel pretty good. We've been playing really well but we haven't been able to put together a full 90 yet that we've been really happy about. I think tonight was at least close to that. We knew Marshall would come here and be tough to break down and they have some players we knew we had to be aware of. I thought we did well".

ODU (8-2-0, 4-0-0 C-USA) wasted little time scoring less than four minutes into the game, when Carla Morich found Megan Watts running through the Thundering Herd defensive line. Watts cut back to release a left footed shot that found the far corner of the net, giving ODU an early lead.

The Monarchs increased their lead in the 25th minute after Cami Johnstone delivered a lofted corner kick to the center of the six-yard box where Emily Roberts was waiting to redirect a header into the goal.

Marshall shut the ODU offense down for the next 55 minutes but was unable to keep them away completely. Yuliia Khrystiuk lengthened the lead for ODU in the 80th minute of the game off of a right-footed shot from outside the 18-yard box.

Khrystiuk would finish out the game with an assist to Emily Garrick's goal in the 85th minute to ensure the Monarchs win streak lived on.

Kasey Perry played all 90 minutes for Old Dominion completing only one save but achieving her fourth shutout of the season.

Marshall (3-7-2, 0-3-1 C-USA) was led by Ava Hall and Kat Gonzalez who had one shot each. Mira Pastoft and Courtney McVicker each recorded two saves for the Herd.

"We look to recover first. It's a real quick turn around until we play ECU. This will be a challenging weekend for us. ECU played Thursday and we played tonight so they have an extra day of rest. We are hoping to recover and get something there too," Hind said.

The Monarchs will take to the road quickly as they are set to play ECU on Sunday, October 3 at 4 p.m. in Greenville, North Carolina.
