NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 20 nationally ranked Old Dominion field hockey team will return home and put its two-match win streak on the line against Longwood on Friday, September 5 at 5 p.m. at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. The Monarchs will then travel to VCU for a Sunday, September 12 match at Cary Street Field at 1 p.m. Friday night's game will stream on Monarch Media, while Sunday afternoon's contest will stream on ESPN+.

Friday's match will mark Military Appreciation Day, as the color guard and military band will present the National Anthem beforehand.

ODU is coming off a pair of 3-2 victories over American and No. 24 James Madison. Leading the way for the Monarchs so far this season are Delphine Le Jeune (five points), Marlon de Bruijne (four points) and Meghan Smart (three points). Earlier this week, Le Jeune was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. Over the three games, Cam MacGillivray has made 14 saves in goal for Old Dominion.

Longwood enters Friday's contest with a 2-1 record, after defeating Drexel and Towson, but falling to Lehigh. The Lancers defense is allowing 1.0 goals per match. Coming off a third-place finish in the Mid-American Conference this past spring, Longwood was picked third in the 2021 MAC Preseason Poll.

VCU will host William & Mary on Friday afternoon, before welcoming the Monarchs on Sunday. The Rams, who are 1-1 this season, fell to American before taking down Villanova. VCU was nationally ranked No. 23 in the NFHCA Division I National Coaches Preseason Poll, before ultimately falling out of the poll earlier this week. This preseason, VCU was selected to repeat as Atlantic 10 champions, while five Rams earned All-Atlantic 10 Preseason honors. VCU returns 10 of 11 starters from the spring season.
