NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's soccer team triumphed over Richmond in a 3-1 victory at the ODU Soccer Complex on Sunday night.
Old Dominion (3-2, 0-0 C-USA) scored first 28 minutes into the first half after Carla Morich was able to finish a right-footed shot into the upper right corner of the goal off of a cross from Cami Johnstone.
ODU found the net less than five minutes later this time from a cross by Morich, which was met by a header from Gry Boe Thrysøe making the score 2-0 going into halftime.
The Monarchs got their third and final goal of the night courtesy of Morich, who finished off of a right-footed free kick outside of the 18-yard box.
Richmond (1-4, 0-0 A-10) forward Molly Wierman was able to break away from the Monarch defense, getting just enough room around Kasey Perry to find the net, putting Richmond on the board 58 minutes into the match and giving them their only goal for the night.
Old Dominion will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m, when the Monarchs take to the road to face off against American in Washington D.C.
