NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's soccer team found a way to win late in Friday night's match, getting their first win, 1-0, over Loyola (1-1) at the ODU Soccer Complex.
ODU (1-1) secured the win with the lone goal scored by Karan Mandair off of a ball across by Eli Carr in the 56th minute. Djibril Doumbia was able to get his first clean sheet of the season, while making four saves and playing all 90 minutes.
The Monarchs outshot the Grey Hounds 13-10. Old Dominion was led on the attack by Ettore Casadei and Elliot Goldthorp with three shots each.
Old Dominion (1-1, 0-0 C-USA) will return to the field on Tuesday, Sept. 7, when William & Mary come to the ODU Soccer Complex for a 7 p.m. start on CUSA.TV.
