CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 57 Yuliia Starodubtseva and Tatsiana Sasnouskaya of the Old Dominion women's tennis team went 4-0 and won the Heel Doubles Draw of the Kitty Harrison Invitational at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Courts in Chapel Hill. ODU's Marina Alcaide advanced to the finals of the Carolina Singles Draw, posting a 3-1 record for the weekend.
 
"I'm really pleased with our performance this weekend with Yuliia and Tatsiana taking home the doubles title and Marina losing a tough match in the singles final," said ODU head coach Dominic Manilla. "Overall, everyone was pushed in singles and doubles and everyone enjoyed success against top national level competition. I'm looking forward to ITA Regionals and then All-Americans. Go Monarchs!"
 
Starodubtseva/Sasnouskaya took down Sonia Smagina/Tiffany Lagarde of Kansas in the doubles final by a 7-6(6) score.
 
Alcaide defeated opponents from Florida, Duke and North Carolina before ultimately falling to No. 35 nationally ranked Fiona Crawley of UNC by a 6-3, 6-4 score in the title match.
 
All seven rostered Monarchs picked up at least one singles win, while all three ODU double tandems won at least one match.
 
Joining ODU in the field, were players from North Carolina, Virginia, Iowa State, William & Mary, Auburn, Duke, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Kansas, Princeton, LSU, Charlotte and Florida.
 
The Monarchs will return to action on October 1-4 for ITA Regionals in Lynchburg, Va. The ITA All-Americans will be held October 4-10 in Charleston, S.C.
