NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion volleyball team begins its 12-game Conference USA schedule this Friday and Saturday when it plays Florida Atlantic on the road. Both matches are scheduled for 1 p.m. start times and will be streamed live on CUSA.tv.

About ODU
The Monarchs enter the weekend on a four-match winning streak, the longest such streak in the short history of the program. Last weekend, ODU won all three matches at its Quest for the Crown Tournament, beating both Radford and Buffalo in four sets and sweeping Norfolk State.

Teresa Atilano was named Most Valuable Player at the tournament as well as C-USA's Setter of the Week. The native of San Diego averaged 12.55 assists per set over the three games and orchestrated an Old Dominion attack that posted 15.09 kills per set and a .298 hitting percentage. Atilano handed out 53 assists against the Highlanders, a season high and the second-most in program history. For the season, she ranks fourth in the conference with 9.26 assists per set.

Myah Conway joined Atilano on the all-tournament team and received C-USA Freshman of the Week honors as well. Conway averaged 3.45 kills per set on a .324 attacking percentage. She hit double-figures in kills in all three matches, including a personal-best 15 against Radford. In that match, she hit .370 with four blocks as well.

ODU's third member of the all-tournament team, Hailey Duncan led the Monarchs with 3.55 kills per set while hitting .578. Duncan is second in C-USA in hitting percentage (.413) and has hit .500 or better in each of her last three matches and in four of her last six. The middle blocker leads the team with 102 kills and is first in total blocks (46).

About FAU
The Owls are off to an 8-5 start to the season but dropped all three matches at the Sunshine Challenge Cup last weekend – losing in three sets to Miami (Fla.), UCF and Florida Gulf Coast.

FAU is led in attack by freshman Klara Zarnovicka. The native of Ostrava, Czech Republic ranks sixth in C-USA in kills per set (3.72) and points per set (4.67) and leads the league in service aces (28).

MiaBella English and Stephanie Young have combined for 414 total assists, and both players average better than 4.50 assists per set. Camryn Vogler's 166 digs pace the team, and Lauryn Green leads the Owls with 34 blocks.

Florida Atlantic and Old Dominion share one common opponent in Norfolk State. The Owls beat the Spartans 3-1 on Sept. 10 at the Tiger Invitational in Towson, Maryland.

Last season, the Owls finished last in the C-USA East Division with a 2-10 conference mark and were 2-12 overall.

The Series
Old Dominion swept FAU in Norfolk in the spring, including a five-set comeback win on Feb. 28. The Monarchs trailed 2-1 in that match before winning the final two sets. The next day, ODU won the first two sets in an eventual 3-1 victory.

What's Next
The Monarchs host UAB in a nonconference series on Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 2. Friday's match starts at 6 p.m., and the Saturday contest begins at noon.
