NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's soccer team won its second straight Conference USA game of the season, extending its winning streak to four after a 1-0 victory over UAB at the ODU Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Angie Hind said, "This was a big weekend for us and a great start to conference play. After the long trip to Texas to come back here and get another win against a quality opponent was really pleasing".

ODU (6-2-0, 2-0-0 C-USA) came out of halftime with fire, scoring an early goal to pull ahead. In the 54th minute Cami Johnstone found Yuliia Khrystiuk on the left side of the 18-yard box. Khrystiuk scored her first career goal as well as the only goal of the match.

Kasey Perry recorded one save in her 90 minutes of play and earned her third clean sheet of the season.

UAB (2-6-2, 1-1-0 C-USA) fired five shots, one shot on goal, and played off of one corner kick. Anika Toth recorded one shot and five saves in her 90 minutes of play for the Blazers. Jessica Wheeler led UAB on offense with two shots and one shot on goal.

"This was a real squad effort this weekend as we had some players out with injury but others stepped up and really played there part. Delighted for Yuliia to get her first goal and it was well deserved given her work rate and impact today. Another clean sheet also and real credit to our back line which was again led superbly by Emily Roberts" , Hind said.

The Monarchs will return take flight once again to take on Middle Tennessee Friday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET.
