NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion volleyball team welcomes three more teams to the ODU Volleyball Center for the Quest for the Crown, which runs this Friday and Saturday. The Monarchs will serve host to Radford (1 p.m.) and Buffalo (7 p.m.) on Friday before hosting crosstown rival Norfolk State at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
 
About ODU
The Monarchs (4-5) return home following back-to-back weekends on the road. ODU is coming off a 2-1 showing at the Liberty Invitational. Old Dominion ended Liberty's undefeated start to the season with a 3-0 sweep in the opening match. Following a loss to Loyola Marymount on Friday night, the Monarchs rallied with a 3-1 come-from-behind win over Purdue Fort Wayne.
 
Alessia Sgherza totaled 21 kills at the tournament and had her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 11 digs against the Flames. Hailey Duncan added 22 kills with a .396 hitting percentage and six blocks. Olivia De Jesus had 21 kills and 11 blocks.
 
Duncan and De Jesus both rank inside the top-10 in Conference USA in total blocks and blocks per set. Duncan is fifth in C-USA with 38 total blocks. De Jesus' 33 rank eighth.
 
About Buffalo
Buffalo enters the weekend with a 5-4 record. Last weekend, the Bulls hosted the WNY Invite, going 2-1. Buffalo swept Duquesne and Canisius and lost in four sets to undefeated West Virginia.
 
Milla Malik racked up 35 kills in those three matches en route to MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. A Second Team All-Conference honoree in the spring, Malik is fourth in the conference and 100th nationally in points (130) and 83rd in Division I with 118 kills.
 
Reigning MAC Setter of the Week Mandy Leigh averaged 10.3 assists per set and added six service aces at the WNY Invite. She averages 8.74 assists per set, good for eighth in the MAC.
 
About Norfolk State
Norfolk State (3-5) went 1-2 at the Tiger Invitational this past weekend with a win over Temple and losses to Florida Atlantic and Towson.
 
Rachel Williams had 18 kills and was one of three Spartans with double-digit kills against Temple. On the year, Williams is second on the team with 61 kills. Shonte Seale added 15 kills and eight digs while hitting at a .414 clip. Seale has 80 kills to lead NSU and is first in the MEAC in kills per set (3.48).
 
About Radford
Radford is 2-7 to start the season and is coming off a 1-2 showing at the Coastal Carolina Tournament, finishing the event with a four-set win over UNCW.
 
Kennedi Johnson had nine kills on 22 swings for the Highlanders against UNCW. She leads the team this season with 70 kills and a .301 attacking percentage. Her 31 blocks are the third-most in the Big South. Taylor O'Neal posted a 17-kill, 12-dig double-double in the win and is second on the team with 64 kills.
 
Old Dominion and Radford share a common opponent in Appalachian State. The Monarchs defeated the Mountaineers in four sets on Sept. 3. The Highlanders fell to App State in five sets on Aug. 28.
 
Mask Policy
A mask mandate is currently in effect for all indoor spaces on the campus of Old Dominion University, including the ODU Volleyball Center. All patrons are required to wear a face mask that covers both the mouth and nose fully at all times while in the ODU Volleyball Center, except while eating or drinking. If an individual enters the facility without a mask, one will be provided.

New this year, ticket vouchers come with the flexibility for customers to use them across several of ODU's ticketed sports, including men's and women's soccer, volleyball and baseball. Purchase now and vouchers remain valid through the end of the home baseball schedule in mid-May. Each year, these four programs account for approximately 60 combined home events that will be accessible with the ticket vouchers.

Each voucher book contains 25 tickets and is priced at $50, which is a 60 percent savings off the single-game ticket price. Vouchers are good for any regular season home game played at the ODU Soccer Complex, Volleyball Center or Bud Metheny Baseball Stadium, and can be presented at the gate for admission.
