NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion men's tennis head coach Dominik Mueller announced the Monarchs fall and spring schedules on Wednesday. In the fall, ODU will host the Division I Men's Tennis ITA Atlantic Super Regional from Oct. 23-25. In the spring, the Monarchs will have a total of 15 home matches, including three against Power Five programs. Old Dominion and the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center will also host the Conference USA Tournament on April 22-24.
In addition to the ITA Atlantic Super Regionals, ODU's fall slate consists of the Elon Invitational, ITA All-American, River City Tennis Open, ITA Atlantic Regionals, Oracle ITA National Fall Championships and hidden duals with Liberty, Penn State and Penn in Lynchburg, Virginia.
"First of all, we are just excited to have a fall season again and get many matches under our belt before the spring season starts," said Mueller. "Every player will get plenty of opportunities to prove himself and compete. The highlight is obviously hosting our first ever Super Regionals. Being at home and hosting the best players in our region will be exciting for our players and fans."
The spring schedule will feature a total of 22 matches for Old Dominion. From Feb. 26 to April 3, the Monarchs will have 11 straight matches at home.
ODU's 15 home spring matches will be against Penn State, Auburn, Norfolk State, Furman, Virginia Tech, Kennesaw State, Navy, Rice, Penn, UAB, Florida Atlantic, Temple, UTSA, Charlotte and William & Mary.
"I believe this is the most exciting schedule we put together since I've been at ODU," Mueller explained. "Hosting three Power Five schools, as well as five C-USA opponents shows the national reputation of our program. Fifteen home matches overall is great for our student-athletes and fans."
The Monarchs will hit the road to take on Tennessee, Memphis or Western Michigan, Columbia, St. John's, William & Mary, Liberty and VCU.
"Twelve of our scheduled opponents finished last year nationally ranked, which should prepare us all year long to make a deep run at the Conference USA Tournament," concluded Mueller. "Our goal every year is to win our conference and make the NCAA Tournament and I believe this schedule sets us up for a successful season to achieve those goals."
Old Dominion has appeared in four of the last five C-USA title matches.
