NORFOLK, Va. – Carter Trice was named a Baseball America second-team All-American, the publication announced. The honor adds to the numerous accolades Trice has received this post-season, as he was named a second-team All-America by Collegiate Baseball and earned Freshman All-American honors from Perfect Game Baseball, Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA.
Trice led the Monarchs with a .355 batting average, in hits with 83, doubles with 17 and in total bases with 148. He finished in the top-20 in the nation among freshman in eight categories, including fourth in total bases, sixth in hits and seventh in runs scored with 57.
The C-USA Freshman of the Year, Trice started and played in 58 games this season. The freshman second baseman notched a hit in his first eight games as a Monarch and put together a pair of double-digit hitting streaks. The first was a season-high 14-game hitting streak, followed by a 11-game hitting streak a month later. He had 24 multi-hit games on the year, including six three-hit games, and a career-best five hits, two homers and seven RBIs in a win at Marshall.
Trice was named to the USA Collegiate National Team and is currently playing with the team this summer.
