NORFOLK, Va. – Head coach of the Old Dominion women's lacrosse team Heather Holt announced today the hiring of Monica Borzillo as an assistant coach. A five-year standout at attack for Cincinnati, Borzillo brings a wealth of offensive expertise to the Monarchs.

"We are excited to welcome Monica Borzillo to the Monarch family," Holt said. "She is going to be a great addition to our staff and rising program. Monica was a standout and record-setting player at Cincinnati and will bring a fresh new look to our team. Her amazing personality and high lacrosse IQ will fit in perfectly with our solid culture that we have grown here at ODU. I am confident Monica will help our team reach new heights in the upcoming season!"

Borzillo left a lasting mark on the Bearcats' record book and leaves the program as the career leader in goals (197), assists (145) and points (342). She was a two-time All-American Athletic Conference First Teamer, including a unanimous selection in 2019, and was named Second Team All-BIG EAST as a freshman and sophomore. During her 2019 campaign, Borzillo scored 61 goals with 47 assists for 108 points to set single-season program records in all three categories while leading Cincinnati to its first winning season and first appearance in a conference tournament.

Over the past several summers, Borzillo has worked on player development at Black Lax Club in Milwaukee (2018) and the Phantastix Club in Philadelphia (2017 and 2019). She has also served as a camp counselor with Go Elite Camps (2017-present) and the Upper Main Line YMCA (2016).

Borzillo graduated in 2020 with a degree in early childhood in education and is currently pursuing her masters in instructional design and technology. She came to Cincinnati from Conestoga High School in Devon, Pennsylvania, where she was named an All-American as a senior in 2016.
