NORFOLK, Va. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the recipients of the 2021 Division I Women's Regional Awards. Old Dominion head coach Dominic Manilla was named the Wilson ITA Coach of the Year for the Atlantic region, Holly Hutchinson garnered the ITA Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award, while Monarch teammate Brooke Pilkington earned the ITA Senior Player of the Year.
 
Every year the ITA recognizes coaches and players for their excellence on the court and in their communities throughout the season. 
 
ODU picked up its first win in program history in the NCAA Tournament after taking down No. 33 Arkansas by a 4-2 score in the first round.
 
This season marked Old Dominion's second ever conference championship and first ever in Conference USA, as the Monarchs won the CAA crown in 2001. This year's NCAA tournament appearance was the third in program history, as ODU earned an at large bid in 2019.
 
ODU ended the season winning 11 of its last 12 matches, while outscoring its opponents 55-17 during the span.
 
The Division I playing awards include: Wilson ITA Coach of the Year, ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship, ITA Rookie of the Year, ITA Most Improved Senior, ITA Senior Player of the Year, ITA Community Service Award and ITA Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award.
 
The national award winners will be announced next Monday, June 21st.

  • ITA Senior Player of the Year: Brooke Pilkington, Old Dominion University
