SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The No. 22 Old Dominion baseball team dropped a pair of Conference contests to UTSA on Saturday evening. The Monarchs were edged, 12-10 in game one and were shutout, 11-0 in the second contest at Roadrunner Field.

"It was a tough day for us," expressed ODU head coach Chris Finwood. "We didn't pitch or play good defense at all. UTSA is a very tough offensive team and they swung the bats well. We gave them too many extra outs. This is a tough place to play and we have to regroup and come out ready to play tomorrow."

The Monarchs (32-13, 18-9 C-USA) opened up the first game on top, putting up three runs in the first frame. Andy Garriola hammered a three-run home run to score Kyle Battle and Carter Trice.

The Roadrunners (21-20, 13-13 C-USA) responded in the bottom of the first, putting up a nine-spot.

The Monarchs got one back in the second, and exploded for four runs in the third, highlighted by a trio of home runs from Kenny Levari, Garriola and Brock Gagliardi.

Trailing 9-8, ODU regained its lead in the sixth when Battle delivered a two-run home run.

UTSA came back in the sixth, plating three runs to edge the Monarchs 12-10.

In game one, Levari went 3-for-3, highlighted by one RBI, one home run, and a double.

The Roadrunners controlled game two, holding the Monarchs to just two hits.

Nick Pantos was charged with the loss in game one, while Hunter Gregory dropped the second game on the mound.
