IRVING, Texas - Old Dominion University senior outfielder Kyle Battle was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Monday.
 
The conference all-academic team consists of 11 student-athletes. Nominees must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, at least a sophomore academic standing and be a starter or key reserve.  
 
Battle has started 51 of 52 possible games for the Monarchs so far this season and leads the league and is ninth in the nation with 17 home runs. He also leads C-USA and is third in the nation with 49 walks.
 
For the season, Battle is hitting .326 with 13 doubles, two triples, 54 runs batted in and 62 runs scored.
 
In the classroom, Battle has a 3.92 GPA and is working on a master's degree in sport management. He is a four-time Conference USA Commissioner's medal recipient and is a three-time Dean's list student.
 
Battle and the Monarchs take on Florida Atlantic in the first round of the C-USA Championship on Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET. The championship is being held at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech.
