CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The No. 16-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team led wire-to-wire in a comprehensive 3-0 win over BIG EAST opponent Quinnipiac in a neutral-site match at the Villanova Field Hockey Field.

"Overall, we are very happy with our team's performance today," associate head coach Natalie Holder said. "We came out sharp and ready to play. Defensively, we were excellent. We did not allow any shots on goal or any defensive corners throughout the whole game. The team stuck to the game plan and in moments of frustration found a way to work together to play simple possession and created scoring opportunities. Today was another great step for the team, and we gained a very important conference win."

ODU (6-4, 6-3 BIG EAST) needed just 88 seconds to find the back of the cage then never looked back. Delphine Le Jeune opened the scoring from the penalty spot at the 1:28 mark for her third of the season. The Monarchs put four more shots on target in the second quarter, but Bobcats goalkeeper Nina Santore stopped them all.

At the intermission, Old Dominion held a 10-0 edge in total shots and hit the frame on all but two of them. For the game, the Monarchs racked up 18 total shots and held Quinnipiac (2-7, 2-7) without a single attempt.

The second goal of the game came midway through the third quarter. A shot attempt from Marlon de Bruijne netted the Monarchs a penalty corner attempt, which ultimately led to Le Jeune setting up Nicole Fredricks at the 35:28 mark for her second goal of the season.

ODU put the game away with a third goal in the 55th minute. Once again, the Monarchs were awarded a penalty corner, and Le Jeune picked out Fredricks at the back post for a tip-in finish.

Friday marked the first multi-goal outing for Fredricks, who scored two goals in 18 games last season. Likewise, Le Jeune set a personal best with two assists and matched her season high with four points. The native of Ghent, Belgium now has four assists on the year, all coming in the last three games and is third on the team with 10 points.

Santore made eight saves for the Bobcats. Cam MacGillivray notched her second shutout of the season.

The Monarchs wrap up the regular season with a pair of conference matches against Providence on Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17 at the Villanova Field Hockey Field.
