NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion student-athlete duo of Hunter Gregory and Carter Trice both received C-USA weekly honors, announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon. All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Surf and Turf Golf.
Gregory was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week, while Trice was tabbed the C-USA Hitter of the Week.
Gregory, pitched a complete game shutout on Saturday afternoon in ODU's 8-0 victory over Marshall. The junior notched eight strikeouts and lowered his ERA from 2.38 to 1.82 with that win. The Chesapeake, Virginia native recorded his first complete game as a Monarch.
Trice batted .563 (9-for-16) across ODU's four games on the week, helping the team to a perfect 4-0 record. The freshman second baseman slugged a team-high 1.375 and drew four walks. The Mechanicsville, Virginia native hit three home runs with 10 RBIs and stole two bases against the Herd. He now leads the league with nine home runs and a .400 batting average. His seven RBIs on Sunday were a single-game high for the league in 2021.
Gregory, Trice and the Monarchs continue their road stretch with a four-game series at Florida Atlantic on April 9-11.
