Fransson, Konradsson Top-10 after First Round at C-USA Championship

TEXARKANA, Ark. – Gustav Fransson and Rasmus Konradsson each carded sub-par rounds and sit inside the top-10 following the first day of play at the Conference USA Men's Golf Championship at the par-72, 6,969-yard Texarkana Country Club. As a whole, the Old Dominion men's golf team is in a three-way tie for sixth place.
 
Fransson fired identical 35s on the front and back nines for a 2-under 70 and a share of fifth place. The senior from Umea, Sweden and former C-USA All-Tournament Team selection notched four total birdies in his round.
 
Konradsson finished strong to crack the top-10. Sitting at 2-over after 12 holes, the native of Sundsvall, Sweden notched three birdies over his final six holes, including one on the final hole to break par and enter a five-way tie for 10th at 71.
 
Fransson and Konradsson lead the field of 63 in par-4 scoring at 3-under.


 
Jakob Henriksson turned in an opening-round 74 (+2) on Monday, highlighted by the lone eagle on the day. He enters Tuesday in a tie for 24th. Carter Morgan (79, T56th) and Filip Wetterqvist (81, T63rd) round out the lineup for the Monarchs.
 
ODU is currently tied for sixth place with No. 38 UAB and Rice at 6-over 294. No. 44 UTSA leads the field following a 5-under 283. No. 33 Charlotte was the only other team to go under par on Monday and is three strokes off the lead.
 
UTSA's Chad Sewell and UAB's Khavish Varadan are tied for first at 4-under 68.
 
The C-USA Championship resumes tomorrow with the second of three rounds of stroke play.
