HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Old Dominion baseball team routed Marshall, 12-1 on Friday afternoon at the Kennedy Center YMCA. Kyle Battle, Carter Trice and Andy Garriola all tallied home runs. The trio leads the team in total homers (seven) this season.

"I thought we played a good all around ball game," ODU head coach Chris Finwood said. "We pieced together the pitching and had some big two out hits to break open a close game! I really was touched by Marshall's gesture of wearing purple socks in honor of Annette's passing from pancreatic cancer. First class in every way! It was a good Friday road win in our first C-USA road series."

Battle opened the ball game with a lead-off home run. Lefty starter Tommy Gertner tossed three scoreless frames before the Herd (4-12, 0-5 C-USA) got on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

In the next four innings, ODU (18-5, 4-1 C-USA) recorded at least two runs per inning, which was highlighted by a pair of homers in the fifth inning from Trice and Garriola.

In the sixth, ODU scored three runs off of walks. In the seventh, Brock Gagliardi led off with a double. Tommy Bell smacked an RBI double to bring home Gagliardi before Battle sent an RBI double of his own to tack on a run. Kenny Levari knocked in the final run of the inning with a single. ODU added three insurance runs in the eighth.

Overall, Trice (3-for-5) and Bell (2-for-4) led ODU with three RBIs.

Aaron Holiday earned the win, fanning four batters in 2.2 innings of work. Jason Hartline and Joey Rodriguez combined for two innings of scoreless baseball.
