ST. MARY'S, Md. – Old Dominion University sailing placed fifth at the MAISA South Coed Conference Championships on Sunday.
"We knew the conference championships would be a challenge for our lineup, but I was proud of the attitude of the team," ODU head coach Mitch Brindley said. "When much of the team was out due to COVID-19 protocols, the Monarchs didn't dwel on the negative; they really stepped up. It was a great opportunity for some of our younger team members to get a great start under their belt."
The Division A team of Bridget Groble and Katie Barton placed fourth in the division. The duo had five top-fives, including a pair of third place finishes.
The Division B team of Chris Robertson and Grace O'Brien placed sixth in Division B. They had three top-10 finishes, including a high of sixth place.
The Monarchs are back in action next Saturday when they host the Team Race Conference Championships.
