ESTERO, Fla. – The Old Dominion men's golf team carded a 2-over 290 on Tuesday en route to a seventh-place finish at the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast at the par-72, 7,393-yard Old Corkscrew Golf Club.
Tuesday's score was the lowest of the three-round event for the Monarchs, eight strokes better than the pair of 298s recorded on Monday.
Rasmus Konradsson carded his lowest round of the event on Tuesday, firing a 1-over 73 for a three-round total of 221 and a share of 14th place. Gustav Fransson finished just one stroke behind his teammate in a tie for 16th.
Carter Morgan bounced back on Tuesday to fire a 1-under 71, the lowest round by a Monarch at the event, and finish in a tie for 25th. The senior from Tappahannock, Virginia notched six total birdies in the final round, including four in a five-hole stretch on the back nine.
Jakob Henriksson closed out the intercollegiate with an even-par 72 for a 54-hole total of 228. Filip Wetterqvist rounded out ODU's scoring five at 229.
Competing as an individual, Chris Ayers shot a 79 on Tuesday to finish at 230.
Hosts FGCU ran away from the 11 other teams in the field, winning the event by 24 strokes with a score of 840. The Eagles posted a 17-under 271 on Tuesday. High Point's Brandon Einstein held on to his 36-hole lead to take medalist honors at 8-under 208, one stroke better than FGCU's Austin Cherichella.
As a team, the Monarchs finished with the third-most pars (160) and had the fourth-best score on par 5s (-6). Konradsson went 4-under on the par-5 holes, which matched the second-lowest tally among the field of 75.
The regular season now being complete, ODU readies for the Conference USA Championship, which runs April 26-29 at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Arkansas.
