NORFOLK, Va. – Ece Turkgolu, Emily Roberts and Ryan Parncutt of the Old Dominion women's soccer team earned All-Conference USA accolades on Monday afternoon as announced by league officials. Turkoglu was named to the All-Conference USA First Team, Roberts made the All C-USA Second Team, while Parncutt garnered All-Freshman Team honors.
Turkoglu (Istanbul, Turkey) is tied for first on the team for goals and game-winners and second on the squad for points. Last year, she was named C-USA Freshman of the Year, as well as was named to the All-Conference Third Team and All-Freshman Team. Turkoglu has also earned United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Team and All-State accolades. She is a current full Turkish national team player.
Roberts (Severn, Maryland) has received All-Conference Second Team laurels in each of the past three seasons. Earlier this season, she was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week. Roberts is a second year team captain, that has played every minute of every game this year. Roberts has helped anchored ODU's defense to shutout performances in half of its contests this season.
Yesterday, Turkoglu and Roberts were named to the league's All-Academic Second Team.
Parncutt (Abingdon, Maryland) has started the last seven (of 10 total) matches for ODU as a true freshman defender, helping guide the Monarchs to three consecutive shutout victories (all in league play) at one point during the season. On top of five shutouts in 10 games, Parncutt and the ODU defense has only allowed a total of two goals (0.4 goals against average) in the last five conference games.
ODU will take on Rice on Tuesday, April 13 at 7:30 pm. EST in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tournament. Tuesday night's match will stream on ESPN+. The tournament will be held in Houston, Texas from April 13-17.
Old Dominion ended the regular season on a four match unbeaten streak, while outscoring its opponents 8-1 during the run.
