Men’s Golf Finishes Day One of Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate

ESTERO, Fla. – The Old Dominion men's golf team is in sixth place following 36 holes at the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast at the par-72, 7,393-yard Old Corkscrew Golf Club. The Monarchs turned in a two-round tally of 597 (298-299).
 
Rasmus Konradsson carded consecutive 74s for a team low 148 and a share of 20th place. Gustav Fransson fired a 72 in the opening round, matching the lowest score by a Monarch on Monday, but followed with a 79 to enter the final round tied for 25th at 149.
 
Competing as an individual, Chris Ayers also started the event with an even-par 72 before firing a 79 across the second 18 holes. His 36-hole mark of 151 is tied for 36th.
 
Filip Wetterqvist shot a 78 in the first round then improved his score by four strokes in the second. He sits in a tie for 39th at 152. Just one stroke behind Wetterqvist is Carter Morgan (79-74—153) and Jakob Henriksson (74-79—153).
 
Hosts FGCU leads the field by 10 shots at 7-under 569 (286-283). The Eagles posted the low scores in both rounds on Monday. Jacksonville ended the first round in a tie for first before slipping to second at 3-over 579. Jacksonville State is one stroke behind in third place.
 
High Point's Brandon Einstein tops the individual leaderboard at 4-under 139 (71-68). Jesus Montenegro of Jacksonville State made up for an opening-round 74 with a 65 in the second round and is in second place at 3-under.
 
As a team, ODU carded 109 pars on Monday, the third-most among the field of 12 teams.
 
The Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate, and the Monarchs' regular season, wraps up with one final round on Tuesday.
