DALLAS, Texas – Two women's basketball Monarchs in Victoria Morris and Amari Young were honored Monday morning as Conference USA announced postseason accolades. Morris was tabbed to the Second Team All-C-USA, while Young was named Second Team All-C-USA and All-Defensive Team.
Awards were announced Monday in advance of the C-USA Tournament tipping off Tuesday, March 9 held in Frisco, Texas.
Morris, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio earned All-C-USA recognition for the third time in her career. She leads ODU in scoring (15.8) and has recorded six 20-point games this season. Morris currently sits in the 23rd spot on the ODU all-time scoring list, having compiled 1,318 career points. She recorded a career-high 31 points in the Monarchs overtime win over in-state rival VCU on Dec. 6.
Young, a forward from North Augusta, South Carolina leads ODU in rebounding (11.4), blocks (1.1) and steals (1.8). Her 11.4 rebounds per game ranks second-most in the league. Young also had two, 24 rebounding games. The junior has compiled eight double-doubles in 2021 and 16 throughout her career. For the season, Young is averaging 13.7 points per game. She was recently named C-USA Player of the Week on March 7. This is the second time Young has been named to the second team all-conference and the defensive team.
ODU is set to face WKU in the preliminary round of the C-USA Tournament on Tuesday. Tip is slated for 5 p.m. ET. The contest will stream on ESPN+ and will air on the ODU Sports Radio Network. Pregame coverage will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Doug Ripley and Susan Montgomery on the call.
