NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion baseball team is set to host Northeastern for a weekend series from March 5-7 at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. All three contests will stream on CUSA.tv.
To accommodate Monarch fans as a result of the difficult circumstances related to the pandemic, the ODU Athletics department is pleased to offer free admission to all ODU baseball games for the 2021 season. The Bud Metheny Baseball Complex will now welcome 750 fans on a first come, first served basis.
Chris Finwood's Monarchs are coming off an impressive 6-5 win over No. 17 ECU on Wednesday evening, where an Andrea Dalatri three-run home run put ODU ahead in the top of the 12th. Kyle Battle and Carter Trice also added home runs in the Monarchs ranked win over the Pirates. For the season, ODU has compiled 17 home runs, which ranks sixth in the nation.
With one victory over the weekend, Finwood will reach 250 head coaching wins while at ODU.
The Monarch weekend starting rotation for the weekend has put together three wins, 43 strikeouts and has allowed just two runs this season in 30 innings of work. Overall, ODU's pitching staff have struck out 97 batters and owns a 2.96 ERA.
About Northeastern
The Huskies (2-2) are coming off an 11-2 midweek win over UMass on Wednesday. Northeastern was picked to finish first in the CAA North Division, which is comprised of Delaware, Hofstra and Towson. A trio of Huskies in righty Brandon Dufault, outfielder Jared Dupere and infielder Scott Holzwasser were named to the Preseason All-CAA Baseball team.
Series History: ODU leads 13-10.
