NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion volleyball student-athletes Alessia Sgherza and freshman Teresa Atilano both received All-Conference USA honors, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. 
 
Sgherza earned a spot on the All-C-USA second team. The outside hitter played in all 69 sets for the Monarchs. She paced ODU with 3.56 points per set and 3.19 kills per set. Sgherza averaged 2.04 digs per set, second-most on the team. Overall, she compiled five double-doubles in ODU's inaugural season. On Tuesday, Sgherza was named to the C-USA all-academic team.
 
Atilano, ODU's primary setter, was selected to the C-USA all-freshman team. She saw action in all 18 matches for the Monarchs. The San Diego, California native tallied 586 assists, the most on the team and seventh in C-USA. Atilano compiled 29 service aces, which ranks first on the team and fifth in the league. On Feb. 28, Atilano notched a career-high 57 assists in ODU's win over Florida Atlantic.
