HUNTINGTON, W.V. – Two ODU goals in the opening 25 minutes of the match, helped lift the Old Dominion women's soccer team over Marshall by a 3-0 score on Thursday afternoon at the Hoops Family Field. ODU's last loss came on Feb. 26, and the Monarchs are currently on a three match win streak, as Old Dominion has outscored its opponents 7-0 during the win streak. The shutout on Thursday was the fifth for ODU's defense in nine total matches this season.

"I am pleased to get the win today as it's never easy to come here and play," expressed ODU head coach Angie Hind. "We spoke about finding an edge today and I thought our team did just that, which was above all really pleasing for me. To score some good goals and also another clean sheet is obviously a bonus. We had a lot of players out there eager to do their part for the team."

Ece Turkoglu gave Old Dominion (4-4-1, 3-2-0 C-USA) an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute, as the goal was Turkoglu's second of the season.

In the 25th minute, Morgan Hall played a ball into Amanda Nhek, who was brought down from behind, leading to a penalty kick, in which Nhek buried the PK into the bottom left portion of the Thundering Herd's (2-5-0, 0-4-0 C-USA) net to give ODU a 2-0 lead.

Old Dominion outshot the Thundering Herd 8-3 in the opening 45 minutes, with the first half's only three shots on goal coming from the Monarchs.

Cami Johnstone drilled a low lining corner kick to Nhek, who one timed a tap pass over to Riley Kennett for the goal, giving ODU a 3-0 lead in the 75th minute.

For the match, ODU held advantages for shots (11-6) as well as corners (4-3). Kasey Perry was credited with one save in goal for Old Dominion.

The Monarchs currently sit in a tie for second place in the league's East division. The top eight teams (top four out of seven teams from each division) during the regular season, as determined by points, will advance to the C-USA Tournament in Houston on April 13-17.
