NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference honored Marlon de Bruijne as its Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
A freshman from Den Bosch, Netherlands, de Bruijne enjoyed a seven-goal weekend against Villanova to help push the Monarchs to a 4-0 start to BIG EAST play. She notched Old Dominion's first hat trick since September 2018 with a three-goal performance in a 4-1 win on Friday, scoring twice from open play and once from a penalty corner. In the process, de Bruijne became the first Monarch freshman with a hat trick since at least the 2010 season. The following day, de Bruijne put home ODU's first four goals in a 7-0 victory. She added two more goals from penalty corners and scored a highlight reel backhander from a tight angle.
De Bruijne is the BIG EAST's leading goal scorer with nine goals in five matches.
