RALEIGH, N.C. – The Old Dominion women's soccer team (1-1) fell to NC State (1-0) by a 2-0 score on Sunday afternoon at the Dail Soccer Complex.

"We knew NC State would be good and they were," said ODU head coach Angie Hind. "Early on, they put us under real pressure, but we made some adjustments and I felt that we had a good hold on the game for the remainder of the first half, as well as early in the second. But, despite having a lot of the ball, we struggled to get anything going in the final third, which was disappointing. Against good teams, you can't afford any mistakes and sadly we had two moments late in the game which ultimately cost us. Good teams punish those moments and NC State did."

ODU allowed its first goal of the year 158 minutes into the season, as Jameese Joseph gave the Wolfpack a 1-0 lead in the 68th minute to break the deadlock.

NC State extended its lead to 2-0 in the 80th minute off a Denaue Antoine goal.

Old Dominion's Kasey Perry made four saves on the day. For the match, the Wolfpack held advantage for shots (10-5) and corners (5-2).

"I'm pleased how we played today, we did possess and move the ball well at times and again our back line was very good," Hind concluded. "So, there are many positives to take, but also plenty that we can continue to work on."

Old Dominion will return to the pitch on Thursday, Feb. 11, when the Monarchs travel to Richmond, Va. for a 5:00 p.m. match at VCU.
