NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University field hockey Head Coach Andrew Griffiths announced the field hockey schedule on Thursday, including a season-opening contest against VCU on Saturday, Feb. 13.

"I know our athletes and coaches are all very excited to get back on the field of play, and to compete. After having this time with games suspended because of the pandemic, everyone appreciates this more than ever before," Griffiths said. "The schedule is great for us. It is a little different than normal, with back-to-back game weekends, and not as many non-conference games. We know we will have to be flexible and adapt as we go along, but more than anything, we are happy to be playing games."

The Monarchs open the 2021 slate with their only non-conference game of the season on Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. against the Rams.

ODU will play Big East opponents in back-to-back games this season on Friday's and Saturday's. The Monarchs host Temple (Feb. 19 and 20) and Villanova (Feb. 26. And 27) on consecutive weekends before traveling to Liberty (Mar. 5 and 6) and playing Providence (Mar. 13 and 14) at Villanova.

The Monarchs return home on March 26 and 27 to host Liberty before finishing the regular season at Quinnipiac on April 9 and 10.

The Big East Championships will be held at Villanova on April 22 and 24.

Two hundred and fifty fans will be allowed to attend home ODU field hockey games this season. Fans will be admitted on a first come, first served basis. Gates will open 60 minutes prior to kickoff. Fans can park in Lot 43.
