NORFOLK, Va. - Head coach Murray Rudisill and the Old Dominion men's golf program announced the addition of Jakob Chicoyne on Tuesday morning.
Chicoyne is a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he is currently a sophomore at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.
"We are excited to have another Canadian join the Monarch family next fall. It has been a few years since we went north of the border to recruit," said Rudisill. "Jakob had an outstanding high school career and signed a scholarship agreement to attend Simon Fraser University. An injury kept him from playing his first semester there and their spring season was canceled like so many other universities due to COVID-19. We are excited to have another transfer student come in with the outstanding credentials that Jakob has. He should have an immediate impact in our starting lineup."
This past summer, Chicoyne finished fifth in the Alberta Amateur Championship, compiling a three-round total of 211 (-1), which featured a final round 65 (-6). Additionally, in a field which included professionals, Chicoyne finished tied for 18th at the Alberta Open with a score of 219 (+6).
Chicoyne is set to compete this spring for SFU and will join the Monarchs fall of 2021. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
