NORFOLK, Va. – Holly Hutchinson (Middlesex, England) of the Old Dominion women's tennis team was named the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award winner for the entire Atlantic region on Monday, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

"Holly continues represent our program, university, and women's athletics at the highest of levels," said ODU head coach Dominic Manilla. "What Arthur Ashe represents is so much more than sport. A member of our team earning this award is amongst my most proud points of our program."

The ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award recognizes outstanding student-athletes in all five divisions (NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO) at the regional and national level. This prestigious award, which dates back to 1982, is presented to the men's and women's national student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.

"Holly is a fierce individual with a strong generosity gene," Manilla continued. "I have been fortunate to see her grow into the leader and person she is today. Successful programs consist of strong individuals. Holly's presence has helped us develop all of our players into even better leaders that will go on to be successful beyond the baseline. Old Dominion Women's tennis program is developing leaders on and off the court for seasons to come and we cannot be more thankful to Holly for helping us get to this point."

Despite the shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ITA recognizes the hard work on and off the court from our deserving student athletes. The national winners of the awards will be announced next Monday during a special virtual awards ceremony. The awards ceremony can be viewed on the ITA's Twitter, Facebook and Youtube.
