ODU Athletics Update
Late Sunday, Old Dominion University announced it was closing the campus for one week, beginning Monday, March 16, to help transition all classes online, prepare for increased teleworking and out of an abundance of caution.
On Monday, March 23, offices will reopen, either physically or virtually, and classes will resume via online instruction. Classes were already cancelled for this week as the university had extended the Spring Break earlier last week.
As a summary, the following other actions remain in effect:
- All ODU athletics practices and competition have been suspended.
- The NCAA has cancelled all winter and spring sport championships.
- The NCAA has instituted a recruiting dead period until April 15. No on or off campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may take place. At this time, National Letters of Intent cannot be offered or signed. Calls and texts are permissible per the recruiting calendar.
- The ICSA (Intercollegiate Sailing Association) has cancelled the remainder of its season.
- The Conference USA and NCAA Basketball Tournaments have been cancelled.
- The Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center is closed at least until March 23.
