Women's Hoops Welcomes VCU to Chartway Arena on Sunday

NORFOLK, Va. - The ODU (1-1) women's basketball team continues its homestand with a Sunday afternoon contest against in-state VCU. The two teams will be meeting for the 78th time overall and have met every single season since the 1984-85 season. The Monarchs will take on the former CAA rival at Chartway Arena with tip slated for 2 p.m. 

The contest will be streamed on CUSA.tv and aired on ESPN 94.1 radio featuring commentary from Doug Ripley and Susan Montgomery.

Notables
- ODU bounced back in a big way with a 70-47 win over William & Mary on Thursday, Dec. 3 at Chartway Arena.
- Head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones earned her first-ever win as head coach of Old Dominion on Dec. 3 against William & Mary.
- Ajah Wayne led the team once again in scoring, picking up a double-double with 21 points and 15 boards.
- The last time VCU visited Chartway Arena (Dec. 16, 2018), ODU won a barnburner, 60-57.
- Against in-state opponents, ODU has an all-time record of 381-105 (.784), which is the best winning percentage against teams in the state of Virginia.
- Victoria Morris jumped up one spot on the 1,000-point record list to No. 32 all-time.
- Junior Mariah Adams added three steals and four assists against the Tribe, the most in those two categories for the Monarch squad.

About the Rams
In its last contest, the Rams (2-2) defeated Buffalo, 61-55 after a comeback late in the second half. Taya Robinson scored a team-high 20 points in the Thursday evening contest. Sarah Te-Biasu scored 10 of VCU's final 17 points. Head coach Beth O'Boyle has five players that are averaging double-figures through four games. Leading the way defensively, senior Sydnei Archie averages 6.5 rebounds per game, playing in just two contests. The Rams were picked to finish atop the A-10 in the league's preseason poll.

With the purchase of a $20 virtual ticket, fans will receive one Virginia Lottery digital scratcher with the possibility to win, among other things, two season tickets for all ODU sports in 2021-22, use of a Chartway Arena suite for a basketball game in 2021-22, a $500 Harris Teeter gift card, a $500 Under Armour shopping spree, free Papa John's pizza, or Moe's Bucks to Moe's Southwest Grill. 

The "Monarch Cutouts", presented by Chartway, are available for $59 and will be placed in camera-view seats. The cutouts will be in attendance at all ODU men's and women's basketball games during the 2020-21 season. Be on the lookout during games because your Monarch Cutout could be featured on the game broadcast or ODU Basketball social media.
