NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University had 64 percent of its student-athletes earn at least a 3.0 grade point average during the 2020 fall semester, while 138 student-athletes received Dean's List accolades.

Of Old Dominion's 406 student-athletes, 260 earned at least a 3.0 GPA.

"This fall, our student-athletes were tasked with completing their studies using a hybrid class and academic support structure that many of them have never experienced before. Not only did the students rise to the occasion, but they surpassed the academic numbers from last fall across the board," Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services Dr. Ron Moses said. "The increase in academic success is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes. Additional avenues of success were provided by the flexibility and innovation from coaches and staff members to support the student-athletes, and the planning and foresight from President Broderick, Provost Agho, and other university officials and campus partners who provided the students with safe and engaging learning environments."

The fall semester saw ODU student-athletes achieve a combined 3.08 GPA, which is an improvement from last fall, while 41 earned a 4.0 GPA.

The women's volleyball team led all women's programs with a 3.72 fall GPA, while the men's tennis team had the best male team GPA, with a 3.47. Overall, 15 ODU sports teams had a 3.0 team GPA in the fall semester.
