ODU's Dean Drugac Places Second at 184 Pounds at the David H. Lehman F&M Open

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Old Dominion wrestling team had three wrestlers place in the 2020 David H. Lehman F&M Open, hosted by Franklin and Marshall on Saturday.

The three Monarchs who placed were Dean Drugac (184 lbs.), Jacob Bullock (285 lbs.) and Anthony Molton (125 lbs.), finishing in second, fourth and fifth, respectively. Today marked the final open of the season the Monarchs will compete in, as the rest of the season consists of duals.

"We liked how Drugac, Bullock and Molton competed," head coach Steve Martin said after the open concluded. " This was a great opportunity to get in some good experience."

Drugac placed second in the 184-pound bracket, after winning his first three bouts by a combined 14-6 margin. To reach the first-place bout, Drugac held Virginia's Drew Peck to just one point, earning a 5-1 win by decision over the Cavalier in the semifinal round. In the 184-pound final, Drugac suffered a technical fall loss to Ohio State's Rocky Jordan, 17-2.

Bullock started his day with a 10-2 win by major decision over Sacred Heart's Dante DelBonis, followed by a pin over Buffalo's Greg Hodulick after two minutes and 55 seconds of action to reach the quarterfinal round in the 285-pound bracket. Bullock then took down Obinna Ajah of Princeton before suffering his first loss of the day, a tight 3-2 decision against No. 24 Quinn Miller of Virginia in the semifinals. The Monarch freshman settled into fourth place after losing an 8-2 decision against Columbia's Dan Conley in the third-place bout.

In the 125-pound bracket, Molton lost his first bout of the day against Geo Barzona of Bucknell in a 6-4 decision. After the initial loss, Molton went on to win five bouts in a row, including two major decisions and two pins. Both of Molton's pins came under four minutes, as his first came against Terry Adams of Ursinus in three minutes and 37 seconds. The Monarch then earned fall victory over Zach Spence, wrestling unattached out of Maryland, in two minutes and 31 seconds. Molton wrapped up his day with a 19-8 win by major decision over Navy's Noah Sirianni in the fifth-place bout.

Three other Monarchs competed in Lancaster on Saturday, as Luke Drugac went 3-2 and Christos Avgeros went 1-2 in the 174-pound bracket. Billy Baldwin wrestled at 285 pounds and also went 1-2 on the day.
