NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion volleyball program earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and United State Marine Corps (USMC) Team Academic Award for the 2019-2020 season. The Monarchs compiled a 3.74 GPA for the fall and spring semesters.
"I am thrilled the team received recognition for their academic success," expressed head coach Fred Chao. "They showed a high level of focus throughout this atypical year, and we are looking forward to a time when they can showcase their athletic competitiveness as well."
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. The accolade also honors teams who have matched their dedicated to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom.
