NORFOLK, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the Women's Lacrosse University Division All-State teams and awards on Monday afternoon, and Old Dominion's Glory Johnson was named first team All-State.
Johnson was entrenched in the top-10 in several offensive categories at the time of the cancelation of the season, as her 32 goals, 43 points and 68 draw controls placed her tied for sixth, 10th and third in the country, respectively. Among her lacrosse-playing peers in Virginia, her goal total was second only to Virginia Tech's Paige Petty, who was named the VaSID Player of the Year.
This season, the Baldwinsville, N.Y. native cracked ODU lacrosse's top-10 in career points (152, tied for ninth), career goals (118, 10th) and career draw controls (135, fourth). She was named the BIG EAST Attacker of the Week on February 17 after totaling 12 goals and 16 points in two ODU wins. In the Monarchs' 14-9 victory over VCU, Johnson tallied seven goals to match her career high.
This is the second consecutive season that Johnson was honored by VaSID, as she garnered second team All-State honors a year ago.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
