RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 32 nationally ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team defeated VCU (6-6) by a 6-1 score on Sunday afternoon at the University of Richmond. The Tennis Monarchs improved to 11-2 on the year. ODU has claimed victory in seven of its last eight matches, outscoring its opponents 40-13 during that stretch.
 
"ODU versus VCU is always important and isn't hard to get motivated for," ODU head coach Dominic Manilla stated. "Today, we looked very athletic and precise. I'm pleased how we were able to keep the focus and get across the finish line in such strong fashion. We will take our lessons from this match and continue to work hard to keep it going."
 
Old Dominion has outscored VCU, 10-2, in two wins over the past two seasons.
 
The No. 32 Monarchs will return to action on Friday, March 20, when ODU ventures to Tulsa for a battle against the Golden Hurricane. Old Dominion will then travel to Norman to take on Oklahoma on Sunday, March 22.
