NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 32 nationally ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team improved to 10-2 on the season after taking down Xavier (5-8) by a 6-1 score on Saturday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
"Thanks to Coach Matthews and the Xavier team for making the trip down," said ODU head coach Dominic Manilla. "Today was a nice match. I feel like we competed hard and worked through some things that we have been focusing on at practice. Coach Sokolenko and Coach Nunez have been working the team very hard and I was pleased to see how well our players applied it. We are looking forward to the opportunity to play VCU tomorrow. Go Monarchs!"
ODU has claimed victory in six of its last seven matches. Old Dominion has a compiled a 5-0 record at home so far this season.
Old Dominion will be right back in action on Sunday, March 8 at 3:00 p.m., when the Monarchs will travel to Richmond, Va. for a showdown with VCU (6-5).
